      Senior Manager Interview

      Feb 24, 2018
      Anonymous employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Salesforce (San Francisco, CA) in Dec 2017

      Interview

I applied to Salesforce through employee referral. It took a few weeks for the recruiter to call and setup a phone screen with the hiring manager. The phone screen was scheduled for an hour, but went over by 40 minutes. The interview started off with a brief casual chat and introduction from both sides. It was followed by questions on my resume, behavioral questions, agile/project management questions, people management questions. The last part of the interview was an programming exercise, conducted through Coder Pad. The hiring manager spent some time answering my questions. Received positive feedback through the recruiter and the schedule for the onsite interview. During the onsite, I interviewed with 3 Sr. Engineering Directors from various groups within the company, each lasting 1 hour. The interview sequence was similar to the phone screen. The last 30 minutes were spent on either a software design or programming problem (where I was expected to write code). Overall, I found these interviews to be challenging and the interviewers to be very knowledgeable and professional. The onsite interview included lunch with the hiring manager and a few team members in an informal setting. This lasted for about an hour and 15 minutes. Had a 15 minute casual chat with another team member. This was followed by an final interview with a VP from a different group; this was unscheduled. The focus of this interview was on behavioral, project and people management related questions. There were process related questions as well, with a deeper focus on Agile methodologies and project management items. Received a call back from the recruiter on the same day with positive feedback. Received and accepted the offer within a week.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Salesforce (Bengaluru) in Apr 2026

      Interview

I interviewed with a Senior Manager, an HR Director, and the Hiring Manager (Director based in the US). The interviews with the Senior Manager and HR Director were professional, engaging, and provided a positive experience. Both took the time to understand my background and discuss the role. My experience with the Hiring Manager's interview, however, was different. The interview began with the statement that there was limited time available and that we should "wrap it up quickly." As a result, the discussion felt very fast-paced, particularly during situational and leadership questions, with limited time to think through and explain my responses. For senior leadership roles, I believe interviews should be a two-way conversation. Candidates should have sufficient opportunity to articulate their experiences, thought processes, and leadership approach, while also getting to know the hiring manager and team. In this case, I felt the interview was more focused on completing the discussion quickly than on having a meaningful conversation. Overall, the interview process was well organized, but I believe the final interview could have been more conversational and allowed for a better mutual evaluation.
