I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at Salesforce (Chicago, IL) in Nov 2018
Interview
I interviewed for an Account Executive position in the Chicago office. The process took close to six months and included multiple interviews and conversations with hiring managers. While this process may seem abnormally long, I was coming from a non software background and was willing to be patient for the opportunity to work at Salesforce. My experience with the recruiting staff was fantastic. My recruiter was constantly keeping me updated on where things stood and was a great resource before and after my interviews. The initial phone screen with the recruiter and then hiring manger were mostly routine, while the on site interviews where more intense. Like anything at salesforce, they have a very systematic way they go about interviewing candidates, especially for a sales position. The key takeaway for me was that overall, they want the candidate to approach the interview as they would a deal. You are expected to “close” every interview, even the initial phone screen. At times this was awkward, but it is a key skill they expect to be demonstrated during the process. I was fortunate to have the employee who referred me help coach me through the process. The final stand and deliver presentation is much like a final meeting with a prospective client. Set the meeting up with a mutual close plan and be ready to emphasize the value you bring as a candidate. Coming from a non software background, I was fairly intimidated by the intense interview process, but this forced me to step my game up and over prepare for each interview. I’m thrilled to be joining the Salesforce team and found the interview process diffult but ultimately rewarding.

Question 1
What is one thing you could have done better in this interview?
Recruiter missed multiple interviews only to tell me they have no positions only.
6 months later I receive an interview invite with pay $20k lower than originally discussed
Manager arrives late to the interview then cuts the time early. Company seems disorganized and difficult to take seriously as a so called leader in SaaS.

pretty easy interview. Had to do a case. It felt like it was just a formality and they put me up to it to fit into their standard processes. Not the best experience but it is what it is
