I was contacted by a Recruiter via email and asked if I was interested in this opportunity. After a brief phone conversation with the Recruiter I was asked to meet in person with the Hiring Manager. That went well and so I met over the phone with the VP of the department. The next call was with the Recruiter to see if I was interested so they could put together an offer. The most notable characteristics of the whole process was how painless and quick it was. All of the meetings felt much more like get-to-know-each-other conversations than typical interviews. I was not asked any of the annoying theoretical behavioral questions, but rather just about my experience and skill set. I'm sure this varies with the role and experience level, but it was a welcome change for me (especially after interviewing quite a bit over the last year).
