I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Scribd Inc. (San Francisco, CA) in Oct 2017
Interview
A phone screen with the recruiter followed by a technical phone interview with one of the engineers.
Conversation with the recruiter was the blurriest I've ever had with a recruiter. She was unprepared and lacked any specific knowledge about the position, so in this regard that phone screen was a complete waste of my time.
The interviewer in the 1-hour skills interview was nice , and the programming question asked by him was fair. I was able to solve it less than 30 minutes, thus was amazed to get a rejection email the day after.
When circling back and trying to ask for some feedback, the recruiter simply ignored my emails, which I find to be a rude conduct, not to mention not very conducing to the reputation of the company (as I told many of my friends about it).
I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Scribd Inc. (Toronto, ON)
Interview
start with recruiter screening - hiring manager - virtual onsite. hiring manager went over the team and then asked few behavioral questions. In virtual onsite there will be 2 rounds coding and system design
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
what are the projects you have worked on previously?
The interview went okay. Mostly behavioural questions were asked in first interview. I could gauge that internal team structure was missing and probably the interview was a front to hire someone internal. Received an email 15 minutes after the first interview that they have hired someone else.
The interview formats were typical, though most rounds felt very disorganized and unprepared. I was made to feel very confident that I was going to receive an offer after the final rounds, and then fence posts kept moving until I was told otherwise. I left feeling that my time was wasted by the recruiter, and that the company's standards for professionalism were quite low.
