      Composition Assistant/Entry Level Publishing Interview

      Jan 16, 2014
      Anonymous employee
      Philadelphia, PA
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at Scribe (Philadelphia, PA)

      Interview

I found the position on Craigslist. I had to go through six months of phone interviews and missed meetings just to get my first interview. I learned later that the company founder does this on purpose. One of many tests. The interview questions are oriented toward getting you to explain that you are very organized and how your personal organization habits are a part of your work ethic. Then, there is a brief computer test that quizzes your understanding of basic HTML and regular expressions. If you pass this computer test, they will check your references, and then you are good to go.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The computer test will stump you if you are not programming minded. The regular expressions are easy to learn, but it is hard to face them down when you have never seen them before.
