I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Sears Home Services (Hoffman Estates, IL) in Aug 2012
Interview
Asked me to put together a Powerpoint deck explaining what I would do in solving a particular problem. Asked me to put together a presentation explaining how I would reinvent the business. Given previous experience, I was able to pull together a great presentation although I will admit that being asked to present how I would solve their problem. without being hired, felt a little like stealing a consultant's time.
I applied online. I interviewed at Sears Home Services
Interview
I left the interview feeling confused? Confused as to why I had even been asked to schedule an interview. After about two minutes of the interviewer telling me what the role was, she proceeds to name all the systems that this role should have knowledge of, which fine. I then go into my experience and she then proceeds to asking if I have experience with XYZ. I tell her what I know and what experience I have. Then, before asking any other questions, she tells me l don't have the proper qualifications and that she has other candidates that are better suited for the role. If you have other candidates that are better suited, why bother interviewing me? If a system isn’t listed in my resume then it’s because I’ve never used it. Do your job to actually screen the resumes. I simply thanked her for the consideration and said bye. Why did I waste my time preparing for this interview? Also, so unprofessional to say that you have other candidates that are more suitable for the role to a potential candidate.
