This is the lamest job ever. What they want you to do is walk the store and sell appt's for sales people to go to the customers' homes and talk them into buying whatever service they can get them to buy.
What is lame is that they want you to walk around the entire store - not just the home improvement areas - and bother people who are, say, shopping for children's clothes, and try to get them to sign up for this salesman to come to their house in a week or two. If you get the person to sign up (and they expect you to use high-pressure to do so), then you still don't get paid. You only get paid if the person - upon being called to remind them of the ensuing visit from the sales guy - does not cancel the appointment.
What are the chances of this? I'd say slim to none. They claim the average "successful sales associate" makes $12-something an hour. I'd be willing to bet that a) most are not successful and b) most make more like the minimum wage they pay to get you to do this and get very few commissions.
So the interview asked :
Why I liked Sears?
Why I would like to sell people appointments for home improvement?
Why I left my last job?
