      Social Media Specialist Interview

      Sep 29, 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Downers Grove, IL
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sentinel (Downers Grove, IL) in Jul 2015

      Interview

The interview process was very straight forward. I received a call from a recruiter who gave me a brief background on the company and expanded on the responsibilities of the position I was applying for. He then asked very basic questions about my background, past work experience and interest in the position. Since he reached out on a Friday, at the end of the call he set up an in-person interview for the following week. My in-person interview consisted of the department manager and the recruiter. The interview was very free form and leaned more towards a conversation. We discussed my past experience, trends in the field, my qualifications, etc. After this interview concluded, the recruiter took me on a tour of the facility to get a better idea of everyday operations, which was an awesome touch. At the end of the tour they walked me back to the lobby and explained, very clearly, the next steps. Two days later the recruiter reached out to me again with feedback from the interview, which was extremely helpful, and scheduled a follow-up interview. My second, and final, interview included the same recruiter and manager, as well as the head of the department. Again, it was a conversation rather than just working through a list of question. Throughout the conversation we covered my experience, thoughts on what I would do if I was chosen for the position, goals I would set, how would I reach those goals, growing trends, examples, etc. At the end of the interview the recruiter, again, walked me back to the front lobby and outlined the next steps. Within the same week they called to offer the position. Something else noteworthy: While walking to the conference room for my second interview the recruiter had asked me my plans for the weekend, I casually mentioned I was leaving Friday to go to a friend's wedding in Indiana and would be returning Sunday. When they called to offer me the position they went through the standard instructions of sending back the offer letter, and other paperwork, but when deciding on my start date, he remembered those plans and set my start date for Tuesday instead of Monday so I could enjoy the weekend celebrating my friend's wedding, and have Monday to settle in and get ready for my first day. It was such a small detail that could have easily been overlooked or brushed aside, but instead they remembered and were so accommodating.
