30 minute phone interview with the CTO after an initial call from their recruiter. During the interview I was told that there was some restructuring recently and that I would not be reporting up to the CTO but someone else who was also on the line but never said a word after the inrtoductons, I found the first part of the interview to be quite unclear on what the actual role consisted of and the job was described better by the recruiter who inticially called me and set up the interview screening with the CTO, The position is a new one for this company as they have never had a Business Analyst before, and from what I gather in the brief overview of the position, whoever fills this role will have to map their processes right from the start, then work on what they have as a backlog and then work on some new projects. The CTO who was interviewing me did not sell the job to be one that was interesting or challenging. For someone to come in and start to fill in for a position that is new to the company, I did not see much of an opportunity for myself. There was not a mention of what I could bring as far as experience and I tried to figure out what they were all about but did not get a good feel for their service, product or overall niche. They are mainly in the hospitality industry and although they boast many high end clients, I do not see much there as far as growth. What they offer as a service seems like it will become part of a normal POS system in the near future and without a niche they are either going to have more and more competition or try and build up the company to sell it quickly. Not a good fit for me and I did not send off any thank you letter for the interview. The next day I thought about it and notified the recruiter that I was not interested in going forward and thanked them for the time.
