      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at SharpSpring in Aug 2019

      Interview

After applying online for the position at SharpSpring, I was contacted two days later for a screening interview. At the end of the call I was told that if I am moved forward in the interviewing process, the next step will be a face-to-face 90 min interview with 3 different people at the company site. However, instead, I received an email asking me to schedule another 30 min call with one of the hiring team members. The second call was the most unprofessional interview I've ever experienced to date in my 14 years of professional work experience. The unprofessionalism in this interview consisted of: 1. The interviewer, with only four months at SharpSpring herself, called me while driving to her doctor's appointment. It was evident she was not giving me much attention, and I found this behavior rude and disrespectful. 2. She didn’t carefully read my resume;she didn’t realize I live in Gainesville and she repeatedly asked me why I want to move to Gainesville. 3. I told her my desire to join a company with growth opportunities from within, because I want to apply my vast knowledge and experience to contribute to the company's growth. The interviewer told me that a desire to moving up within the company is a red flag. 4. The most humiliating part came when the interviewer mentioned that there are no many potential qualified candidates in Gainesville--implying that if I get an offer it might be because of that. 5. The interviewer didn’t understand how my experience translates into sales skills and knowledge even after I explained to her in detail. It was clear she didn’t read my resume past the education section. 6. The call had to end after 15 minutes because she arrived at her doctor's office. Again, offensive and disrespectful of my time and efforts. Companies like SharpSpring need to realize that their employees are truly their representatives to not only clients, prospective customer, but to prospective applicants. The interviewer did not represent the company well-- and if that is the true representation of what SharpSpring is about it only says that they don't care about the human connection that is integral to making software and businesses successful but just the monetary ends.
