I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Shell (Karāchi) in May 2015
Interview
The interview process was pretty smooth. The best part of Shell's internship program was that the higher up management is highly involved in what quality of candidates make it through the process. Which makes each individual responsible for what external resource is taken by the organisation and plan their projects accordingly. My first interview was on call, second interview was face to face with the line manager.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Situation based questions were asked about how to go about with the project from the time it is designed, planned and executed. I had to go into details as to what would comprise in each of these areas and what support I would be looking for to roll out the project.
The interviewer was keen on understanding my previous job role. Also at every interview one common question was why Shell, or why a petroleum company, and what makes you so excited to work in this organisation.
I applied online. I interviewed at Shell (Calgary, AB) in Jan 2026

Self video screening interview and then only the select candidates move forward with actual interview. It seems very few are filtered through AI filtering. They tell you if you aren't selected within few days.
The first round is a general screening with two components. the first is multiple choice where you are put in plausible situations at work regarding following guidelines. Then there is a personality quiz, and finally 3 prerecorded interview questions with unlimited attempts
