My first interview was arranged at my University via an alumnus who worked for Shell. Prior to this, all of my personal information had to be entered on-line at the Shell careers website. This was followed by a one-on-one with a team leader (manager) at an industry conference. Next, I was invited to an on-site interview in Houston which consisted of a technical presentation, followed by a "Shell Recruitment Day" (SRD) event. In this event, candidates are presented with large amounts of material on a fictitious business scenario, given limited time to digest it, and are quizzed by experienced Shell personnel on how they would have handled the event. The SRD was concluded by a similar scenario where teams of people compete to determine how company funds should be dispersed. Hiring decisions were rendered approximately one month afterward, requiring many calls with Shell HR personnel.
