I only had one interview, and it was with the man who would be my direct supervisor. The interview was very pleasant and formal, but not uptight and uncomfortable. I came into the office and had to wait to see the collections supervisor (he truly is busy every second of the day). He asked me questions about my past work experience (partcularly about customer service) and about my career goals. He expressed that in collections it can often be a good thing not to have prior experience because you are coming in with no "bad habits" from other collection floors.
Soon I was contacted to fill out hiring paperwork (I can't remember if I got it right then, but I knew by the end of the interview that I was hired--so I appreciated him being so straight-forward). I went and did the necessary documentation and was training within a week from the interview. The leads who trained me were serious, but understanding. There is a lot of information to glean and understand before they let you loose on your own. That took 1-2 weeks of training before I was on my first phone call without any "big brother' supervisors on the call.
