Started off with them giving a pitch of the company then into the needs of the position I was interested in. I wouldn’t call this first 30 minute call an interview, but more of a discovery discussion. I’ve been in working in the defense industry for the past 15yrs and am happy with the work life balance I’ve had over the 15yrs along with the 9/80 schedule and plant shutdown between Christmas and New Years. I inquired what a typical work week was like and the impression I got was that there would be no work life balance with the typical 50hr work week. If they were comfortable disclosing working 50hr weeks, how much more are the critical people working? No amount of money is worth the burnout. Needless to say, there was no need to move forward to have an official interview.
