Initially, I was interviewed because of a contact. There was first a phone interview, however, it was more of a catch-up with regards of where the real interview would take place, and what they expect.
The interview took place a few days later. I was interviewed in a large room with 3-4 important figures, co-founders and directors, including the CEO. There was a large variety of personalities in the room; for example, one individual was very serious and straight to the point, another was very laid back and loved to smile, and yet another was very excited and liked to joke. It was a bit difficult to accommodate all different personalities at the same time.
While it is good to be serious about the interview, the individual who was serious, was a bit too serious. It was difficult to decide whether he didn't like me, or if that is just how he is. Either way, the interview was lengthy, there was a lot of discussions regarding the direction of the company, what my role would be, and what my rights as an employee would be, if hired.
Throughout the interview, I had begun to sense the desire of the company to be more focused on profit, rather than creating good products. Even though they probably will create good products, it seemed their focus was more on the money than on the passion to create games, or be innovative in the gaming industry. I also sensed that they viewed their employees as mere grunts or drudges, and not as creative and important individuals to a team.
I had decided, based on the interview that the role was not for me. A few days later, I received an email confirming that I was not the right fit.
