After a brief and pleasant phone screening interview a 1:1 interview with the recruiter was scheduled, followed by a technical interview. The 1:1 was great, I felt that what the company was trying to do in terms of finding a good culture fit was very reassuring. It was, unfortunately, the technical interview that made me second guess the process. I had to solve a series of algorithm challenges on a platform that neither the recruiter or I were familiar with. I felt that the questions were highly irrelevant for the job and didn't measure my programming skills at all. If you are the type that read books like "cracking the code interview" or spend time in sites like leetcode, these questions will be trivial. I've been working in the industry for many years and I don't remember ever having to print out geometrical shapes in the screen. This was a bit disappointing. It was explained to me that this was a new step that they were introducing to the interview process, and I truly hope that they get to rethink it (specially because this initial technical test is followed by two other more complex tasks where you actually have to build an application - a lot better approach in my opinion).
