I was contacted through Linkedin by one of the recruiters who informed me about this position and asked if I was interested. She presented herself as a very friendly person during this initial phase. The phone interview was the shortest in my life. My impression during this short, but uncomfortable process was to sense as if she was in a hurry to end up the call, almost from the first two minutes. I was shocked of the sudden change on the recruiter's behaviour, from a very open and friendly communicator into a short-tempered and quite hostile interviewer. The sensation of not been heard.. (had you ever noticed when the other person is doing something else, with the phone aside?)... well, that was exactly the impression I got. It was complicated and quite frustrating trying to present my points to someone at the other side of the phone who was openly in a rush to end up the call since the very beginning. I even noticed how upset she turned when I tried to articulate a basic salutation phrase as if those 5 seconds could ruin her whole schedule. My perception after this uncomfortable moment was that Shopify is a company where rudeness may be considered as a sign of leadership. I guess that the Type A personalities may be the only ones welcomed on board.
