Before you even meet anyone, they send you a link to a mental competency exam which is by far the most demeaning experience I've ever had out of an interview. Then I talk to the recruiter who doesn't sound at all enthused, and only wants to hear about how much I love Shopify, not at all about the role itself. No follow up. Awful experience.

They had 1st round where technical writers checks your previous experience and asks one or two behavioral questions. Next round is life journey with recruiter. Recruiter round is more to see if you are fit for the culture of the company. However, most of the questions were obvious from my resume. The recruiter asked specific items that were meant to disqualify me. They could have found this information from my resume and not wasted my time with this pointless exercise.

The process included one initial screening interview with HR and another longer interview (3 hours) with managers, senior staff, and then team members. The interviews all felt much more like friendly chats than an assessment of my skills.
