Interview
A friend of mine gave me a referral and a few days later a recruiter contacted me. She scheduled a code exercise with one engineer. He was working for Shopify for 4 months.
He started the interview straight to the code challenge. An algo/ds question that can be made in the language of your preference. I was trying to solve the problem and I got close to the solution, but got stuck in one thing and ended up not doing it.
I had to wait 2 weeks for the answer, but I knew I didn’t do well, so the rejection was expected. The problem is the long wait.
I discovered later that if you don't solve the question, you are not going to the next phase. It does not matter if you got close. Also, if you go to the onsite interviews, if you are good but not great, they are not gonna hire you as well.
Negative parts of the interview: they take long to inform you that you didn’t go to the next phase and they also don't provide feedback in the end. They send you a generic rejection letter as many other companies do.

Write a function that receives a string of products and return it with the crescent and decrescent order.
Really clean and well defined pattern but doubts on the evaluation process. Things that should have close to no value for a senior role were considered during the final evaluation.

Great process! I was attempting to apply to Senior Frontend. There were four stages (initial, technical, HR, deep-technical); all were set according to my availability and were super convenient. Life happens, and my son decided to be born right in the middle of the process. Shopify gave me enough space and time to prepare the next steps without asking questions. Kudos to you guys!
Unfortunately, I wasn't qualified for the Senior position, however, I did get offered as a mid-level engineer, which I declined. Shopify still offers you to join them, even if you haven't fully qualified for the original position. This approach is rare and very appreciated.
I will try again soon, hopefully, to nail the position I look after.
