I applied in-person. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Siemens (Knoxville, TN) in Sep 2014
Interview
The interview process was interesting, I met with a panel, which is typical for Siemens, but they had me tell them what I would make the position. Since it was roughly designed, they really had no idea what they were going to make the position.
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Siemens (Detroit, MI) in Feb 2018
Interview
I had 1 HR screening, 3 phone interviews and an in person interview. Things were going very fast and were looking up. I was expecting an offer with how everything had gone. After the in person interview, which was the last one, I didn't hear anything for a week. I poked HR and got a response that they were finalizing details with upper management and they ask if I had any interest in relocating. Mind you, the position was in my state or there was mention of remote location. Never once was relocation mentioned. When HR brought this up, they said not to worry as this was not a deal breaker.
Well after weeks of not hearing anything I reached out again only to find out that they ultimately decided to change the location to a completely different part of the country. I was floored. 4.5 interviews, a stretched out waiting process that brought the whole timeline to 2.5 months only to have the carpet pulled out from under me. I was very excited to have the opportunity to interview and I was confident I would get an offer, only to have them waste my time and change the location after being silent.
This was not a great experience. I don't get how they were super interested in me only to pull the plug and change the location. I offered to travel as often as needed to train and perform the job requirements at the highest level.
After this experience, I would not seek employment at the company again. Poor communication after the initial few weeks and an unprofessional last minute change. I even drove to the in person interview and made it on time during a snow storm.
