Disappointing candidate experience
I had what I believed was a very positive initial conversation with a member of the talent team. Following the interview, I was asked to complete additional work in order to move forward in the process, including reviewing Fanatical Prospecting and submitting a written assessment of how I would apply the methodology to my first 90 days in the role. I was also encouraged to research the team and industry and begin thinking about how I would activate my own professional network.
I took the request seriously, completed the assignment, and submitted it as requested. I never received an acknowledgment, feedback, or any communication regarding my candidacy.
Companies have every right to decide that a candidate isn't the right fit. However, when a company asks an experienced candidate to invest additional time completing work specifically to advance in an interview process, I believe the professional courtesy of acknowledging the submission and closing the loop should be a basic part of the candidate experience.
Unfortunately, the lack of follow-up left me with a very different impression of the organization than I had after my initial conversation.
