I applied online. The process took 12 months. I interviewed at SkyWest Airlines (Newnan, GA) in Jun 2021
Interview
My interview process was smooth and welcoming. I went through the SkyWest cadet program, something I highly recommend. I have been impressed with all who were involved there and throughout the recruitment and onboarding process. SkyWest employees seem to actually like their company and are positive toward those wanting to join. As compared with some other airlines, I felt like the interview was less of an attempt to find reasons not to hire me, and more investigating reasons why I am a good candidate for the job. This was very refreshing! Thank you!
The interview consisted of a bit of telling me about the company and the nature of the job given my location. It was a candid description of the challenges of being an airline pilot with schedule and lifestyle. They were making sure candidates are aware of the demands and willing to work in this environment. I'm aware of it but this was nice also.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I can't remember all the questions, but they were the standard TMAAT questions concerning emergencies, challenges in the cockpit, management conflicts, successful resolutions, ... Also some WWYD scenarios concerning how I would handle different situations with my fellow flight crew and employees.
They also asked me to interpret a METAR and TAF and make judgement calls for go-no-go.

Questions were thoughtful and relevant, allowing personalities and experience to shine. Overall, the process reflected the company’s strong culture, high standards, and genuine commitment to employee success and long-term growth
Very relaxed. Had to prepare a lot on the topics addressed, but the interview was relatively straight forward with the studying I had done. I felt good in the interview and really was able to ask a lot of questions, learn more about the company, and it allowed me to know this is where I wanted to go.
