      Consultant Interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Slalom (Philadelphia, PA) in May 2018

      Interview

The interview process at Slalom was extremely enjoyable due to the transparency that they showed from the start. I was looking to move companies, and from the beginning they let me know what their approach to hiring was, and how it made the interviewing process longer than I may have been used to. There was no set timeline, and it seemed like they wanted to get to know me as a potential colleague, rather than judge my skills and experience as an employee. When I first spoke with a recruiter, the conversation was very informal. It was more to get to know what I was looking for, and to understand if Slalom could meet what I was looking for. After the initial phone screening, I was invited in for an interview in the Philadelphia office. I met with two different people, both consultants in the Delivery Leadership practice. The questions were mostly focused on my past experience, with a few informal case questions working through my thought process and approach to various problems. Throughout these conversations, I was exposed to the Slalom core values and principles in practice. It was a refreshing change from what I was used to. I was then invited back to meet with the head of Business Advisory Services, and while I was there, had the opportunity to meet a few more consultants in the Delivery Leadership practice. Again, everyone I spoke with was extremely passionate and candid in their views of Slalom, which were overwhelmingly positive. Even the atmosphere in the office made me comfortable and excited. After these interviews, I was informed that a role had opened up that they weren't expecting, and that there was a need to fill that role as soon as possible. This accelerated the interview process, and I was soon discussing salary expectations and benefits with the recruiter. After a few more phone conversations, I was given an offer with the salary I was expecting, and accepted it soon after.

      Question 1

Informally, when discussing the design process for software implementation, my interviewer asked me to hold a design session with her as the client, to design a water bottle.
