I was approached by one of the Talent Acquisition Team on LinkedIn. I get messaged by recruiters a lot but something about this message stood out to me, it was personalised and she had mentioned that the CEO had asked her to reach out to me. I wasn't necessarily looking for a new job but I thought I would have a talk with her anyway. It started with a very casual phone conversation, she asked me how my current role was going and what Slalom could offer me. It all sounded great as she mentioned Slalom has a very big emphasis on culture, which is important to me, and that their "motto" is "love your work and your life". After the phone chat she asked me if I would like to come and see the office and maybe have a chat with the Salesforce Practice Lead. The interview with the SF Practice Lead was actually the technical screening, but it didn't feel like that at all, it was very relaxed, it felt more like a conversation than an interview - which was lovely as I felt I could answer the questions truthfully and not try to lie about what I know. After the interview he explained that I would have to come in and do a presentation to the team followed by another interview. At this point I wasn't even sure if I wanted the job, but it all sounded good so far so I thought there would be no harm in it. I prepared a short 10 minute presentation on a project I had worked on recently. I presented this to about 8 of the Salesforce team, with a Q&A at the end. After that I had a "cultural" interview that, again, felt very much like a conversation than an interview. I received feedback straight away about my presentation and everyone seemed happy with how I'd done. Two days later I received a verbal offer, to which I accepted.
