I was approached by the HR team for a Senior Test Analyst position. Initially, my profile was rejected by one HR due to my current location. However, a few days later, I was again contacted by another HR for the same role. During the initial conversation, I was very transparent about my location, commute, and even stated that I was open to relocation near the office if selected.
After this clear discussion, my profile was shortlisted and I proceeded with the interview rounds.
✅ 1st Round: Virtual – I cleared it. The questions were fairly straightforward.
✅ 2nd Round: Face-to-Face – I travelled to the Mumbai office and cleared the technical round.
❌ HR Round: Despite already discussing my location and flexibility, the HR aggressively questioned my commute and refused to accept my responses, cutting me off mid-sentence and dismissing my assurance about relocation. His words were: “Whatever you say, I am not convinced” — which made the entire process feel pointless.
It was disheartening to go through multiple rounds of interviews, invest time, energy, and travel, only to be rejected for a reason that was already discussed and accepted earlier.
📌 Key Issues:
Lack of coordination between HR representatives.
Wasting candidates' time despite known constraints.
Disrespectful HR interaction — not willing to listen or trust the candidate’s intent.
Poor infrastructure: Small office with no basic amenities, even unclean and compact washrooms(even smaller than public washrooms).
Clarify location constraints upfront and get written clarity if possible.
Be cautious about investing time unless you're absolutely sure they’ve aligned internally.
Don't proceed if you're just considering a counter-offer, especially given the infrastructure and culture concerns.
I genuinely appreciate the first HR who reviewed my profile honestly and chose not to proceed based on clear location policies — that saved everyone’s time and effort. Thank you so much to first HR.
