I was contacted by their recruiter and did a quick phone screening with her. She then set up an interview with the hiring manager, Martin. After my phone interview with Martin, the next step was the coding challenge, which was pretty easy and allowed you to showcase all of your skills from a full-stack perspective. The last step in the process was an on-site interview with Martin and 4 other engineers. All of the questions were fair and easy for me to answer and the overall mood of the interview was very fun and relaxed. The on-site interview was scheduled to be one hour long but we went over that by a good amount because the engineers were very easy to “click” with and it turned more into a good/fun conversation by the end.
I was in the middle of the interview process with another company when I first spoke with Jacque (the recruiter). She was awesome and I really enjoyed working with he. She was up front and open about everything during the process. She also moved the process along a lot faster for me as she knew I wanted to make a decision as quickly as possible. Martin was laid back, easy going and seems like he would be great to work for.
I ended up taking the other company's offer but I was very close to flipping because Jacque and Martin kept coming back to me and sweetening the offer. For example, making an exception about the number of days required in the office. I felt bad about not taking their offer after they “moved mountains” to get me to join the team but I really appreciated all of their hard work and effort to get me in the door!
