I applied in-person. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Smithfield Foods in Aug 2015
Interview
I applied on Indeed.com. Within 24 hours I got the call from the Wilson NC plant. They only smoke and package bacon.
After a plant tour with all of the PPE and lab coat, it was a chilly environment. It's not hot at all. And the smell of smoked bacon is delicious.
The interview and tour was exactly 50 minutes. It was more of the HR recruiter looking over my resume and asking me to talk about myself and my experiences. Afterwards, we reviewed the health plans. They offer Blue Cross Blue Shield and that is wonderful. However, the pay is $12.50 to start $12.70 after 90 days. Too pay is around $16.00. 1 year vacation after 1 year of working and the work week is always Monday thru Saturday . Most Sundays off. They have a 6.5 point system. They do not accept Dr's noted, so if you miss work one day, that's 1 point. They walk people out constantly for too many points.
The End.
They need bodies... It seems that the turnover is high there. There is 0 work life balance. However, if I was much younger and wanted to save money, I'd live at the trailer park near the road and work there for 6 month to a year and move on.
Interview was easy based on production experience in poultry worked in team environment long hours easy overtime discussed weekend work they have several companies on the property to provide PPE and a grill for lunch depending on shift hours

The interview process was easy . No issues, allowed breaks, offered snacks all though the session. The person giving the interviewer spoke loud and clear enough for everyone to hear.
