      Account Executive Interview

      Mar 4, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Socio in Jan 2021

      Interview

Recruiter reached out to schedule an initial screening. Screening went well and everything seemed to align and then I was moved onto the next round. 30 minutes before the interview he emailed me and said there was an emergency and had to reschedule. OK - I get it, things happen. I emailed back and said I could do the following Monday. No response until that Tuesday. Typically at this point I should have known to walk away, but was genuinely interested in the company. Ended up rescheduling the interview and I felt it went well. I was more than qualified for the position (and I do not say that very often) and got good responses and reactions from all parties. I received a rejection email a few days after my interview. If you don't want to hire someone or you don't think they are what you are looking for, just say it on the 2nd round call. It's much better and honest than a rejection (and generic) email. I also got put on their email marketing list? Weird.

      Interview

I applied for an Account Executive position on Socio's website & heard back from a recruiter within a couple of days. I was elated. Working for Socio has been a dream of mine for a couple of years now. During my initial call, I had a great conversation with the recruiter. Then we got to the discussion of compensation, and all of a sudden I was "not quite qualified for this position." I get it. If my request for a certain level of compensation is too high, then please let me know and we can work something out. To take an hour of my workday to tell me at the end of an interview that I am not qualified for the role I applied for, was a first for me. The recruiter said that they would speak with the sales team about making an exception for my experience, but communication has been silent from them for the past week and a half. A quick follow-up would have been appreciated greatly. I would still love to work for Socio some day, but this definitely left a bad taste for me.
