I applied a month ago and due to the delay I was under the assumption that I had already been rejected as the recruiter had told me to expect a response by the following Wednesday of the interview if there was interest. There was no message so I thought I was out of the position.
I got a call and voice message from the Manager to interview about a month after so I went ahead and set it up. The Manager was courteous and went over questions in a list, just asked me about four questions. The Director also joined in but didn't have any comments or questions to make. I could not see their faces but they could see mine, which was awkward. I got a message with pictures of the location so that I knew what it looks like. Two hours after receiving the pictures in the afternoon, I was sent over a candidate experience survey. I knew this wasn't a good sign and so I checked in the job portal and saw that I was rejected.
I am not sure why I was called after a month, maybe I should have save myself face and ignore the call. Maybe they needed some diversity quota. During the interview where I wanted to provide an additional example, the Manager interrupted and dismiss me so it was apparent to me that he didn't want to see me as someone qualified for the position. Waste of my time really. If you don't like the candidate, don't interview them.
