I've applied online. The interview process from initial contact to the offer took 4 weeks and consisted of screening call, call with Engineering manager, technical challenge (find and fix the issue with a react app) via zoom and onsite portion with meet the team, cultural fit section, my "notable past project" presentation and another technical challenge (implement a feature in a react app). + Everyone I've spoke to were very engaged and the overall process was well organized. From emails, calls scheduling, follow ups and interviews themselves the process was well defined and easy to follow. I had a clear idea of where I'm at and what to expect next every step of the way. + Technical tasks were domain specific (React, Node, JS in my case) and closely resembled the type of tasks one can expect during the real work day. + I had an impression that the hiring process was very intentional and they wanted to make sure that the key team members have an opportunity to meet me before the hiring decision is made + Each interview step on its own was not extra difficult, but all of them combined felt like a thorough evaluation of my skills and experience - The interview process took a bit longer than I originally expected

Process: 1. Call w/ head of engineering and/or senior engineer 2. tech phone screen 3. virtual onsite that consisted of a debugging problem, another 'real world' coding problem, system design, and finally a 15 minute chat w/ the CTO Round 1 was nice and a good way to get a sense of the tech org at the company. Low key, undirected conversation for the most part. I guess it was a culture fit interview. Round 2 was a pretty difficult coding question IMO. It was made more difficult by the fact that my interviewer spent a good portion of the interview distracted typing on their laptop, either getting other work done or on Slack. I'm nearly certain they weren't typing notes about the interview because they rarely offered any verbal or visual clues as I worked through the problem. Onsite was similarly difficult, mostly because my interviewers gave me a problem statement, didn't tell me what they were evaluating in a meaningful way (beyond "I'd like to hear your thought process"), and didn't provide any visual or verbal cues throughout the interview. I had the same interviewer from my phone screen again during system design and had to repeat at least one question to the interviewer because they were not paying attention to the interview. Furthermore, I was instructed that I would need my laptop setup to run code for the tech screen 10 minutes before the interview started. I was not told once that I would need to have my machine setup for the onsite interview, but I needed to have a local environment set up for each interview. Totally reasonably to expect a candidate to set up their own environment, but that information should be sent at the time that the interview is scheduled. It's disrespectful of candidates' time to share information about an interview right before it starts, and it is representative of general disorganization. Anyways I'm sure people have had positive experiences here but it was sincerely the worst experience I've had as a candidate in the last 5 years. Oh also they didn't make me sign an NDA and I have all of the problem statements that they gave me, so that's probably something to shore up for future candidates as well.
