I was contacted by a recruiter from Sofar Ocean about the Senior Supply Chain Manager role. When I provided my availability, I was told the recruiter’s first available slot was 10 days out. I accepted the time and spent that week preparing for the conversation.
Then, just 2 hours before the interview, I received a generic rejection email from the company stating they were only moving forward with local candidates. No direct message from the recruiter, no explanation, and the interview invite was still active — so I had no idea if the meeting was still happening or not.
Out of caution, I joined the call anyway. The recruiter never showed up. No cancellation, no follow-up, nothing.
This was an incredibly disrespectful and disorganized experience. The company knew I wasn’t local — why go through the whole process of setting up an interview, only to reject me at the last minute without the decency of a personal message?
I took time off work for this. If this is how Sofar Ocean treats candidates, I’d be concerned about how they operate as a company.
Do better. Respect people’s time.
