I knew it was suspicious when the recruiting team didn't contact me after I applied online but instead the hiring manager called me directly. She didn't send an email but double called me the next day before I had a chance to return her call. We spoke for 45 minutes on the phone and she didn't even discuss salary until I brought it up. I asked her what the range was since I wanted to be respectful of everyone's time. She seemed to have no idea what the salary range was but said that it would be up to HR to decide. That was weird that she didn't know. Then she said she can get HR to call me but that normally they don't do that until you're hired; well then where is the recruitment team? HR never called me to discuss their salary range but instead the hiring manager texted me that she sent me an invite for a Teams interview. I naively assumed that she confirmed with HR what my salary requirements were.
During the Teams interview with a total of three people (hiring manager, account manager, and colleague who was transitioning out of the role), they asked behavioral questions which were pretty easy. The interview lasted an hour. She told me during the call that they have second interviews and maybe will do it the following week. Well a week later I got a system email that they've decide to move on.
So then I came on Glassdoor and saw all the reviews about Solventum not having their business together. They are actually going through layoffs so I find out. Everything makes perfect sense now: they already knew who they wanted to hire, an internal candidate, and was wasting the external candidate's time. That was the reason the hiring manager never discussed salary and never got HR or recruiting to go through the proper process that an established company would do. Do not waste your time with this incompetent business.
