I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sonatus (Sunnyvale, CA) in Dec 2021
Interview
Honestly, pretty awful and inhumane interview experience. The final round alone is 6 hours long. I have never had to do a longer one. I had difficulty trying to not cackle when one of the engineers I talked to complained about their lack of applicants.
They want to delegate DevOps responsibilities to Software Engineers to reduce their costs and ask very specific Docker/Kubernetes DevOps questions during the interview to make sure you will handle those things as well. This is why I am not surprised to see the pretty low work/life balance assessment on Glassdoor.
Last, almost all interviewers interrupted me dozens of times while I was responding to their questions, not even allowing me to explain everything coherently. From cofounders to engineers, lack of two-way communication is disturbingly prevalent.
Save yourself time and respect.
The interview process is lengthy. I was rejected after sitting through several rounds of interviews.
Instead, they could provide feedback in the initial rounds itself if they were not satisfied.
