I initially applied for the above role at one label and got rejected straight off the bat. A few months later I received a phone call from someone in HR saying they loved my application and they wanted me to come in for an in person interview with another Sony label. It wasn't a phone interview of any kind, really.
After tentatively scheduling two different interviews that ended up being cancelled, causing me to lose a lot of money on train tickets, I finally went in for an interview the following week. Also note I had to double check regarding the cancelled interviews to even find out they were rescheduled because everything was up in the air.
The in-person interview wasn't bad, the interviewer ran a little late but they explained everything and took the time to answer my questions. In fact, as indicated in the examples below, they barely asked me any questions, so I felt a need to compensate and demonstrate my suitability for the role. It was mostly them talking about the role, what it involves, what the team's like, and the company culture. They said I'd hear back mid-end of the following week, and I asked "Either way?" and they said "I would hope so!"
Fast forward to when I was supposed to hear back. I received no phone call, email, nothing. I emailed the person in HR I was in contact with to ask if there was an update and received no response, I knew them to be unreliable with email from our previous correspondences. I sent a follow up last week and one final one this week. I think they best thing to do is give up at this point.
I really wanted the role and saw an exciting opportunity to work in social/digital marketing with artists I'm genuinely passionate about, and letting go of such an opportunity is a little hard, especially after I've been job searching for 9 months now. I find it rather rude that they expect people make to the time and effort to go for an interview but don't even bother to confirm their rejection. It's not that hard to send a generic "Unfortunately you weren't successful" email, and at least it provides some closure. People's livelihoods aren't something you can just treat so flippantly.
