I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Sophos (Pune) in Aug 2021
Interview
The interview panel is inexperienced and they do not have good evaluation skills. They do not study the resume and ask the question. Do not waste time in giving interviews they put things on hold for finding candidates who ask for lesser package.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Generic binary tree questions. Puzzles, bookish question which is not relevant to experience candidates.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Sophos in Jun 2019
Interview
From recruitment to interviewing, the process was streamlined for efficiency. The interview was geared towards architectural design topics that allowed for both myself and the interviewing panel to correlate experience to current and future product needs.
Problems were discussed and broken down according to the actual product roadmap for the teams. Which is great for a higher level interview. Demonstrations of algorithms do little to give interviewers visibility into a candidates ability to create long lived APIs, scalable systems, and the ability to engineer applications versus just developing them.
I was very pleased that the interview focus was on what mattered and not on futile white boarding exercises.

I was contacted by a recruiter from Sophos, via LinkedIn, and decided to give it a try. The interview started on a positive note, with the recruiter telling me that Sophos already hired a lot of engineers this year.
As soon as he realized that I was a principal software engineer, he lost interest. He told me that they do not have openings for principal software engineers, but I could send him my resume, in case they will have such openings in the future.
