Interview
I had a great experience interviewing with SoundHound. From the very start, I was given a very clear picture of timelines and what to expect for my upcoming interview process. All of my interviewers were very friendly, encouraging and professional. The technical portions consisted of a series of coding/algorithm/system level design questions, but it never felt like an interrogation--it was more like a conversation where we simply talked through the problem together. The lunch interview was very interesting in that I had lunch with a group of SoundHounders from other teams, and this gave me a good sense of their fun and unique work culture. Although SoundHound is prominent in the voice AI space, the SoundHound app was their flagship product so I was happy to see that the common thread between all of my interviewers was their love for music -- something that I really appreciated and was ultimately the reason why I had decided to join the music metadata team.
They started out with an HR interview as per the usual routine. This was followed by a technical screen over the phone. This consisted of a not-too-difficult coding question and some questions about my past experience. The last stage was a four-round virtual onsite, two rounds of coding questions plus one of system design and then a talk with the engineering director.

Question 1
One of the questions involved designing a simple C++ structure with an embedded array (private of course). They then asked me to write an indexing operator[] for the structure.
Smooth and team members are nice and personable. Seems to be a nice company with solid environment. Not sure on the company’s outlook given the name change and industry environment.
