      Senior Android Developer Interview

      Mar 28, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Sparq in Mar 2019

      Interview

There was an initial phone call that was pretty general and pleasant. Second call was a "technical interview", which was a long list of questions about Java and Android related things and a couple open-ended questions. The second phone call turned me off from the company. The interviewer sighed a lot and didn't seem to want to be on the call from the moment the call started. He was pretty non-communicative when I asked him to elaborate on what sort of answer he wanted from the questions. Moreover, a factual quiz is not really a good way to assess someone's skills. The Android API and development ecosystem is enormous, and the quiz covered a pretty narrow set of things, some of which were really unimportant. In either case, the background assumption is that an expert is someone who knows all of the answers off the top of their head, which is a myth. Anyways, my experience reflects others on here. Rural Sourcing may be a good company, but their interviewing process is unoriginal and needs some overhaul.
