      Java Developer Interview

      Feb 2, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Sparq in Aug 2022

      Interview

Phone Screen -> Technical Phone Interview -> online open note timed test where you have about an hour to solve a technical problem -> Two part interview, first half was over consulting questions, second half was over more technical Java questions. After "passing" the interviews the recruiter informed me I would be added to their talent network, and once a position opens up they'd reach out with an offer. It's been roughly 5 months since then, and other than a monthly follow up email stating they're waiting for a position to open up (and asking to join some event they've set up) there hasn't been any signs of new roles opening up. At one point I saw a new Java posting from Rural Sourcing on Indeed and reached out to the recruiter about it. They stated the openings were "for proactive purposes anticipating future positions". Basically, even if you pass the phone screen and three rounds of interviews you're added to a queue with who knows how many other people on the off chance more work comes in.

      Interview

This was an initial phone screen. The HR woman was pleasant, and asked a good amount of questions without coming off as if I was getting the third degree. The phone call was about 25 minutes and I started off with the regular, "Tell me about yourself" and was asked to talk a a bit about my goals, especially in relation to my degree.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Sparq (Augusta, GA) in Feb 2019

      Interview

I originally was contacted for a Database position, but the project landed at a different location. I had an phone interview, then an in-person interview with a member of the cultural ambassador team and a member of the database department. I then took a 60 minute (timed) technical assessment. Everyone was very professional, and welcoming. I was called back for a different position after the project landed at a different location, and repeated the process with the exception that the assessment (again, 60 minutes) was given online and I took it in the comfort of my own home. I had an in-person interview with two members of the team, who were also very welcoming. Very nice people, stress-free interview environment.
