I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Splunk (Seattle, WA) in Aug 2020
Interview
A majority of the interview process went well. There was 1 phone screening, 1 technical screening, and 4 formal interviews. The coding questions were moderate, and 5 out of 6 interviewers were friendly and made the process run smoothly. In addition to the coding questions, there was also a lot of questions about project work on my resume that the interviewers seemed to be genuinely excited to talk about.
After the interviews, the recruiter set up a phone call appointment with me to tell me whether or not they would extend an offer. She began the phone call by asking me how I think I did, and then saying "The team discussed it and wanted to extend you an offer... but upon reconsideration, they decided not to move forward with your application." Afterwards, she proceeded to give me feedback that I should work on my "technical debt." I asked her if she could explain what she meant by that, and she replied "I don't really know how to explain it. It just comes with experience." I am not sure how technical debt is relevant to any questions discussed in the interview or how a person can have technical debt.
Calling to say they wanted to extend an offer but changed their minds, and then giving incomprehensible feedback was unprofessional. A straight-forward email rejection would have been more appropriate.

Horrible. Rude. They were awful. Stay away. I never would recommend to even my worst enemy on this planet. What a terrible interviewer. Beware. They already picked someone. I am glad I dodged a bullet here.
