As part of the Clinical Teaching program, which is the same thing as Student Teaching with a different title for those holding a Bachelors degree, through Lone Star College, I attended orientation at Spring ISD. There are a number of leaders who present and discuss ways to succeed in the district. At one point, the entire group was presented with an opportunity to apply to be substitute teachers. We interacted with the same people who would hire staff for schools and completed paperwork for that along with the paperwork for student teaching assignments for the semester. The process for hire was in addition to this process and seemed more regimented and somewhat like an assembly line. There seemed to be an extensive amount of paperwork, though fortunately much of it was electronic. The woman in charge was professional and warm though it was apparent that she had a lot of responsibility that she handled very well; with grace and perseverance.
