I applied online and HR got back with me for a tech screen. The tech screen was quick and I was sent instructions for the take home. I was given a week but I asked a question for clarification and the recruiter didn't get back with me until almost 10 days later. They finally got back with me and told me I didn't move forward. I actually like Square, but this is a waste of peoples time. I am not sure what they are looking for in someone calling data from a API, but this is the reason why some developers don't like doing a take home as part of the interview process, with such vague instructions and the lack of help when asked, candidates are setup to fail from the start (maybe that is intentional?)
