Contacted by a recruiter through Indeed. Expressed my interest, then was contacted via email by someone at SMX to schedule an in-person interview at Google HQ in Meatpacking District in NYC. Arrived for the interview, and was interview by two people simultaneously, one HR manager and her assistant. Very nice ladies, and very pleasant interview.
Benefits were okay, included cell phone reimbursement, travel reimbursement, and free food 3x daily, plus in-office benefits that Googlers get. Due to your being a 'contractor,' you're not entitled to the same fringe benefits as Googlers. NO PTO offered, which was part one of sealing the deal for me. Part two was that I had told them my salary requirements, and they said it would be no problem to match or surpass that. Then when I got my offer, they lowballed me. Didn't appreciate that practice.
Despite the appeal and flash of getting to work at Google, you're not actually working FOR Google, you're working for SMX, and there's legal implications to saying you work for Google.
All in all, decent experience, nothing against the hiring people, just not attracted to the offer after the lack of benefits, and reading reviews on Glassdoor.
