I was invited to interview in-person for an APP role after two phone screens. I was not currently living in California when offered the interview. When asked about possible reimbursement for travel, I was told Stanford does not reimburse for travel. Despite this, I decided to proceed with the interview because I believed it was a good opportunity. The day before my interview, I expected to receive an itinerary for the day; although I was in frequent contact with the interview coordinator, I never received an itinerary. First red flag. I was also not told about the format of the interview despite asking. As I entered the interview, the coordinator let me know that I would be asked clinical questions, which she 'had forgotten' to send to me the day before. Another red flag. After the interview concluded, I was told that they would provide me with a decision in 1-2 weeks. 2 weeks passed and I had yet to hear anything. I sent an email to the HR recruiter to follow-up; no response. I decided to log into the application website and saw that my application status had changed to 'No longer considered for the position.' The date of this status change was 1 week PRIOR to when I emailed the recruiter, and only a few days after my interview. I never received a formal rejection email or call, and had to find out via the website about my application status. I expected much MORE from an institution like Stanford, especially when I took the time to travel for the interview at my own expense. I believe that their interview process is extremely discourteous and uncouth. I will not recommend Stanford to any of my colleagues as a result.
