After an initial phone screen with a internal HR recruiter, I had two technical phone screens - one with the HM and one with his best technical architect. Both went extremely well (during the later face-to-face interview with the HM, he said that his technical architect thought I was 'someone he could learn a lot from...'). After another week, I came into the Framingham office for a round of four interviews - with the internal (HR) recruiter, the HM, his boss (a technical director) and two more enterprise architects. All the interviews went excellently, from both a technical and personality fit - and I have been through a large number of interviews (I know when things are going well and when they are not...). Since several similar positions had opened up since my initial interview, the HM indicated that I would surely be a fit for one of them (it could be my choice). One of the technical expert interviewers indicated (again) that I was someone from whome (he) could definitely learn. I waited for news of next steps for over a week. Finally I called the HR person - multiple times. When he deigned to return my last call, his message was that I was not the best candidate they had seen (and I was one of the first interviewing for any of these positions). I can only think that the HM is afraid of competition (I have extensive management experience), the organization is incompetent or something more nefarious (age/ethnic discrimination? I don't know.
Needless to say, my family and I will be shopping somewhere else for our office supplies. This has left a bad taste in my mouth.
