I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at State Street (Boston, NY) in Jan 2019
Interview
Pros-
-The interviewers had taken some time to read my C.V. prior to the interview
-The Interview started on time.
Cons-
-The interview was by video conference only, so no local attendees & I could only see one of the interviewers.
-One interviewer was engaged with his blackberry on a number of occasions throughout the process which I must admit was irritating and disconcerting.
-The interview was cut short due to a 'burning' issue with a promise of further contact
-After being declined I asked for feedback and never received any.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The questions were uninspiring. Tell me about yourself, where do you see yourself, and what do you think will be the next big technology.
I applied online. I interviewed at State Street in Feb 2026
Interview
I participated in a recruitment process consisting of five interview rounds, successfully completing all stages. Throughout the process, despite multiple requests for clarity regarding the budget for the role, I did not receive any concrete information.
At the final stage, I was informed of a positive outcome and was invited to submit a compensation proposal. After sharing my expectations, I did not receive any feedback for approximately three months. I was later informed that my profile was considered “too expensive,” without any further explanation or opportunity for discussion.
In my view, transparency and constructive dialogue—especially during the negotiation phase—are key elements of a professional recruitment process. Unfortunately, the overall experience was negative, particularly given the time and effort invested in preparation and in-person meetings.
This is a missed opportunity, as the organization initially appeared to be very interesting.
Situations like this risk negatively affecting a company’s reputation and may convey a lack of respect for candidates’ time and professionalism.
