Position, as posted, mentioned nothing about programming but a lot about leadership and sounded very jack of all trades. Interview process included a phone interview with HR, followed by an in person panel interview with predefined questions so each applicant were compared similarly. Phone interview was about 30 minutes, in person was almost 2.5 hours. Was told several times they were looking to hire more of a culture fix than a skills fit, as skills could be taught. Was also told they needed a leader and the position was also a jack of all trades / infrastructure position as well.
Shortly after the interview, I received four online assessments (personality, leadership, other soft skills). Took those. A few days later received three online skills assessments (programming and project mgmt). Took those, and a few days later was invited back for more panel interviews. Met with the plant GM, controller, some engineers and another programmer. This interview took roughly four hours, and at the end was told I'd hear back within two weeks.
I personally never received any feedback from the company directly. My recruiter did, and it turns out that they really wanted someone with more programming skills. SDI then pulled the position and posted a much more precise, programmer oriented position.
