I conducted a telephone interview with the VP of HR followed by multiple in-person interviews. I met with 10 people in StepStone's New York, NY (in-person and via teleconference), including their President, a Managing Director, several Principals, and the HR team. I also met with 7 people in StepStone's La Jolla, CA office the following week, including their co-founder, co-COO, and several Partners. The opportunity to meet with a diverse interview team in two of StepStone's larger offices, including many of the firm's top leaders who drive the business and help shape the culture, reinforced their importance to foster a strong learning culture.
The interviewers asked good questions about my professional and education background, what I would do in specific situations, and a few competency specific questions (e.g., strategic thinking, leadership). The interviews in both locations were back to back so it takes preparation and energy to interview well at StepStone.
I asked each interviewer several questions to learn more about their learning priorities, what they enjoyed most/found challenging about working at StepStone, and opportunities to partner with them. I appreciated that the interviewers enjoyed answering my questions and showed genuine interest in my candidacy.
The entire interview process, from the initial communications via LinkedIn to being offered the position, was well-managed by the VP of HR and Recruiter.
