The hiring manager reached out to me on LinkedIn and encouraged me to apply for the role. After a conversation with her I started the interview process with an HR screen. I proceeded to four 45-minute to hour long interviews with members of the team: "retail systems"; data modeling; behavioral; and a coding screen. For the most part the interviewers were friendly and pleasant. I proceeded to the final round, an interview with the VP. The job she described was quite different than the one the hiring manager had recruited me for. It seemed like the job was evolving in real time, or maybe the hiring manager and VP were not on the same page. After the final round HR told me I would hear back in a week; I emailed two weeks later for an update and was told to wait another week. All told I spent ~10ish hours prepping and interviewing for this role and never received an official rejection.
