While I had been a Stitch Fix customer and loved the service I'd gotten, it appears from the process, that the company is really looking for stay-at-home moms who want to solely work for Stitch Fix--not actual part-time professionals. Despite the fact that they say they are looking for part-time workers, if you are a professional with other projects, you wont fit their bill. They asked me if I planned to continue to do my other business while taking on just 15 hours of work per week (scheduled 2 weeks in advance of those hours). I told them yes and explained how I would balance the work. They seemed genuinely surprised by the answer--as if they thought I should only want to do the work at Stitch Fix and give up my other work. The truth is, you wouldn't ask a stay-at-home mom if she planned on giving up being a mom to work at Stitch Fix--why would you ask a professional that question? They pay part-time workers just a smidge above minimum wage and want you to be 100% committed to doing just their work--don't try and do something else in addition to it. They look for people with retail experience (which I have) but want people that lack ambition to do anything outside of work for Stitch Fix. The entire experience (as well as the people they chose to run the interviews) left a very sour impression. Many reviews on Glassdoor note the sort of "sorority girl" mentality that is present in the culture-in my experience that's an absolute dead-on accurate description. For me it wasn't worth the time or effort I put into going through the interview process. I wouldn't recommend that anyone with professional aspirations apply--and I certainly wont ever be a customer again. I'm not up to contributing to a vapid company that doesn't value individuality or diversity.
