I Interviewed at Stitchfix for an engineering position. The process took 3 weeks. The reason it took that long was due to scheduling constraints on my end. The people I spoke to were all delightful and were really interested in getting to know me, my interests, my abilities, and my career goals. It wasn’t a “gotcha” type of interview experience. What a breath of fresh air!
The interview experience for me included the following stages:
Step 1 - 45 minute tech screen
Step 2 - 60 minute tech screen
Step 3 - Full loop, between 4-6 hours depending on the role. Mine ended up being 4 hours split between 5 people. No panels, just 1:1.
Step 4 - Offer
Each interviewer outlined what they would like to accomplish in their time slot upon starting the interview session. Zero surprises. Interview carried out as promised. I had plenty of time to ask questions at the end. I really believed that each of them was happy to be there talking to me, and I had their full attention.
Every time I had completed one of the steps, the recruiter reached out very quickly to schedule the next. Very responsive, very respectful, and such a great experience overall. Basically, once both parties had decided we were interested in moving forward, the process moved along very quickly, and the offer came in the second business day after the full loop.
They turned a typically stressful, and unenjoyable process into one that I really enjoyed, and was as stress-free as possible (considering it was an interview). I highly recommend them to anyone looking to join a highly collaborative work environment, that is also diverse, filled with brilliant, and empathetic individuals.
Keep it up StitchFix! You’ve really figured out how to vet people and let them vet you as well, without making it terribly stressful and unpleasant.
The offer came in under my other offers. I countered with a little more to close in the gap, but it wasn’t approved. The recruiter had talked to me about their philosophy regarding compensation being that they put their best offer out there, and there is no wiggle room. Still, I tried for more because the other offers were quite a bit higher. I took the job because I really liked the people I spoke to, and the role seemed very exciting to me. I accepted the original offer, and it was signed by both parties the day I received it.
